I wrote "the same on the other side of the border" before mentioning that Rusia needs sea access. That means the situation can't be flipped so much on Russia.
As for the northern harbors they are frozen half a year. Ean even with them, Russians size is a problem as much of an edge. Their resources on the midlands are trapped by distance.
