820-02917 (MacBook Pro M3 A2991) – SN24A12 Type-C Controller Issue Hello everyone, I would like to share a recurring issue I’m facing with 820-02917 MacBook Pro M3 (A2991) logic boards and ask for advice from those with experience. I ordered an SN24A12 USB-C / Type-C controller from AliExpress, but unfortunately it did not work. When I install an SN24A12 taken from a donor 820-02917 board, the device works perfectly. I am experiencing the same issue on: • M1 • M2 • M3 logic boards. Even after flashing the ROM, the SN24A12 controllers sourced from AliExpress do not function. Because of this, I am almost always forced to use controllers harvested from identical donor boards. My questions are: • Is there any known method to make AliExpress-sourced SN24A12 controllers work? • Are these controllers board-specific / OTP / paired to the original logic board? • Has anyone successfully used a new (virgin / unlocked) SN24A12? • Or is the only reliable solution to use a controller taken from the same model donor board? Any insight or shared experience would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
