💻 Clean Architecture is powerful, but it is not free.
Many developers admire architectures with multiple layers: Domain, Application, Infrastructure, Presentation, Repositories, Services, DTOs, Use Cases, and more.
On paper, this looks elegant and scalable.
In reality, maintaining such an architecture can become challenging, especially when a company has developers with different experience levels and technical capabilities.
A senior developer may easily navigate ten layers to implement a feature. A junior developer may struggle to understand where business logic belongs, leading to duplicated code, misplaced responsibilities, and increasing complexity.
Over time, teams may spend more effort maintaining the architecture than delivering value to customers.
The goal of architecture is not to maximize abstraction. The goal is to make systems easier to understand, evolve, and maintain.
Sometimes a simpler architecture that the entire team understands is more valuable than a sophisticated architecture understood by only a few experts.
🎯 The best architecture is not the most complex one. It is the one that matches the size of the project, the maturity of the team, and the long-term maintenance capabilities of the organization.
