#SocialWorkerCompetencies 🗣 Social Worker Competency 6: Engaging Effectively with Individuals, Families, Groups, Organizations, Communities, and Government Engagement in social work is a dynamic and interactive process that takes place across the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Throughout this process, social workers apply empathy, reflection, and effective communication skills. Phase IV of W.I.N.G.S. Facilitator Training Has Begun From 15–17 September 2026, the fourth phase of facilitator training under the W.I.N.G.S. program is being held. The three-day training brings together 55 psychologists working at “Inson” Social Service Centers across all 14 regions of Uzbekistan. During the training, participants are strengthening their knowledge and skills related to the forms and consequences of gender-based and domestic violence, the cycle of violence, the Power and Control Wheel, as well as risk and protective factors. The W.I.N.G.S. intervention was developed by Louisa Gilbert, Professor at Columbia University School of Social Work. The training program was adapted to the context of Uzbekistan by Ludmila Kim, Director of a specialized unit at Columbia University. This phase of the training is being conducted by trainers M.Makhmudova, A.Yugay, and Z.Isayeva. The facilitator training process does not end with the three-day training. #WINGS W.I.N.G.S. Facilitator Training Successfully Completed The fourth phase of the W.I.N.G.S. facilitator training, aimed at supporting the effective implementation of the W.I.N.G.S. intervention in practice, has successfully concluded. Over the course of the three-day training, participants strengthened their theoretical knowledge and developed practical skills essential for their work as facilitators. At the conclusion of the W.I.N.G.S. facilitator training, participants shared their reflections and highlighted the value of the knowledge and practical skills gained throughout the training. Introducing Dual Education in Social Work Discussed Today, a scientific and practical roundtable titled “The Role of Dual Education in Advancing the Social Protection System of New Uzbekistan” was held in Tashkent as part of the PROSPI project, implemented jointly by the National Agency for Social Protection under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ). The event focused on a proposed model for introducing a dual education programme in Social Work in Uzbekistan, including its institutional framework, academic and practical components, the role of higher education institutions, and mechanisms for cooperation among key stakeholders. The introduction of the dual education model aims to enhance the quality of professional training in social work by integrating academic learning with hands-on practice and equipping future specialists with up-to-date knowledge and practical skills.
