The end of PSP 🌉   After rebranding from ParaSwap to Velora, the team is ready to do the same with its native PSP token.   Velora recently announced the launch of its VLR token, which will become the main asset for staking and voting on the platform.    The protocol intends to adopt a more seamless structure by integrating gasless transfers and a unified staking hub on Base.   Users can now migrate their PSP tokens to VLR through a one-click transaction.   Furthermore, PSP stakers are incentivized to migrate their positions as soon as possible to earn additional VLR rewards.   The migration window will remain open for at least a year, but the bonus rewards will end in December 2025.     Since the VLR token migration was announced, the price of PSP rose by 30.5% from $0.02 to $0.028.

Nifty no longer 📕   The Gemini-owned NFT platform Nifty Gateway has announced it will officially shut down all operations on February 23, 2026.   Effective immediately, Nifty Gateway has halted all trading and primary sales of NFTs.    Additionally, the platform has transitioned into a "withdrawal-only" state, meaning users can no longer buy or list new NFTs but can still access the site to remove their existing assets. However, any leftover funds can still be withdrawn to a Gemini Exchange account or to a bank account through Stripe. In Gemini’s recent blog post, the sunset is part of a broader strategy by the exchange to "sharpen its focus” on building a new superapp that encompasses more than just NFTs. However, the sudden closure has left many scratching their heads on whether their NFTs could still be recovered after the February deadline.

Smart contracts saved ... by AI? 🤖   The XRP Ledger blockchain has been pre-emptively saved after the XRP Ledger Foundation confirmed that it had fixed a security bug found in an upcoming network amendment before it was deployed.   The flaw was identified just over a week ago by Pranamya Keshkamat, a security engineer at the cybersecurity firm Cantina, with the help of Cantina’s autonomous AI security bot, Apex.   According to a report published by the XRPL Foundation, a ‘critical logic flaw’ was identified that would allow hackers to drain funds directly from user accounts, without requiring their private keys.   Since the update was still in the voting phase and had not yet been activated, user funds remained secure.   After the vulnerability was identified and disclosed, validators were advised to vote ‘No’ on the amendment, followed by the deployment of the emergency patch.   The price of XRP has risen slightly by 1.4% from $1.40 to $1.42 since the patch was announced

BitMEX's final curtain call 🚪 After 11 long years, crypto exchange BitMEX, the progenitor of perpetual markets, has announced it will shut down operations on September 23.    According to BitMEX’s latest announcement, users will have 2 months to withdraw all their funds from the platform, and all of its native BMEX tokens have been unstaked and redistributed.   Users who fail to withdraw their funds by the closure date will be charged at least $50 per month.

JIM CRAMER IS SELLING HIS BITCOIN OVER QUANTUM COMPUTERS 🔐 On August 3, Jim Cramer told CNBC viewers he's selling every last one of his Bitcoin. His reasoning: quantum computers will crack it within about three years. He'd interviewed IBM CEO Arvind Krishna a few days before that, who said investors should be "paranoid" about quantum computers breaking modern cryptography in 3-4 years. Obviously, Jim Cramer’s track record tells us he’s not someone we should be taking all that seriously (Inverse Cramer exists for a reason)… That said, enough PRO members asked about the story that John Gillen (our crypto analyst) decided to write a tidy little breakdown on ‘the quantum threat.’ His advice, in short: pay attention to it, but don't freak out about it. The actual threat looks like this… Your wallet has a private key (your secret password), and that key generates your public key (the identifier everyone else can see). On a normal computer, following the breadcrumbs to reverse engineer a user’s private key from their public key would take billions of years. But a big enough quantum computer running something called Shor's algorithm could do that reversal in minutes. Nowadays, your public key only touches the Bitcoin blockchain when you send funds out - so if you were to move all of your funds to a fresh wallet with no outgoing transfer history, you’d be safe.
