String slicing parameters are start:stop:step. So the first parameter is where to start, the second one is where to stop, and the third one is how many indexes to move each time. Python will be indexed as: Python 012345 We are starting from index 0, so we will slice P. Then we move 2 indexes to index 2, so we will slice t. Finally, we move 2 indexes again to index 4, so we will slice o. The next move would take us to index 6, which is the stop index, so slicing ends.
