What ChatCrawler is
ChatCrawler is a search engine for public Telegram. Public groups and channels are to us what websites are to Google: we discover them, crawl their open feeds and index their public posts. Everything goes through the official Telegram API and covers only what is open to anyone without an invitation.
How it works
Discovery: new public venues are found through links, mentions and forwards from ones we already know. Crawling: the crawler reads a venue's open feed the same way any person opening t.me reads it. Indexing: posts go into the search index, and aggregates are built from them — where an author posted, when a venue is active, what language it speaks.
What is in the index
9.4M public groups and channels, over 14.6B public posts, and cards for the authors who wrote them. The index is alive: it keeps growing, and venue data is refreshed as the crawler comes round again.
How this differs from searching inside Telegram
Telegram search covers what you are subscribed to plus venue titles. We search the contents of open feeds in full, including venues you never knew existed, and we keep snapshots of posts that in Telegram itself are already scrolled far out of reach.
What we do NOT do
No leaked databases, no phone numbers or documents, no private or closed chats, no bypassing privacy settings. The full list of limits is on a separate page, «What ChatCrawler does not do».
The name
ChatCrawler is written in Latin script, one word. A crawler is the robot a search engine sends out to walk sources and put them into an index. Ours walks public Telegram venues.
