🌾🇷🇺 THE UNSTOPPABLE RISE OF RUSSIAN WHEAT – From Importer to Global Power
In 1998, Russia couldn't feed itself and relied on $1.5 billion in food aid. Today, it produces over 85 million tons of wheat and holds 20% of global exports – the world's top exporter.
🔴 How Russia transformed its agricultural sector:
· 🏭 From Soviet collapse to strategic asset – the "wild nineties" saw poverty reach 50%, but Putin's 1999 declaration set a new course: "The revival of Russia will be impossible without the revival of the countryside and agriculture."
· 🌱 Key reforms – Rosselkhozbank (state agricultural bank) established in 2000; land ownership laws regulating foreign ownership; state programs for modernisation and productivity since 2006.
· 📜 Food Security Doctrine (2010, renewed 2020) – set self-sufficiency thresholds: 95% for grains, 90% for milk, 85% for meat.
