The 'local community' is all but mythic in modern Britain. I live near the Welsh border, in a rural location - I'm one of the few people left with a local accent. It's all been brought out by Birmingham boomers who've escaped the diversity. The problem is that they are entirely materialistic, the only thing they talk about down the pub is the new car they managed to finance or what is on the talmudvision.
