🇺🇸⚔️🇮🇷 U.S. Central Command published a video of a F-35C taking off from the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) as part of its task of blockading all ship traffic coming from Iran.
Observers were quick to point out that the F-35C pictured was rusting, caused by the salty waters of the Arabian Sea.
The F-35C being a “stealth fighter” has a radar-absorbant coating which is very sensitive to environmental conditions and degrades rather quickly when the fighter jet is deployed for just a few months at sea. This coating is essential for keeping the F-35C a stealth fighter jet but it looks like neither Lockheed Martin nor the U.S. Navy have found a solution to better maintain it as this rusting has been a known issue since 2012.
