i noticed when testing OV48C that DCG does not do any good if the exposure is too dark both NORMAL and DCG are noisy as hell only benefit from DCG for adding extra stop of dynamic range in a well lit scene (in scene where max ISO of the sensor actually produce any reasonable quality image) therefore i am thinking if sensor has small pixels it wont be exposing bright in the first place so having DCG won't do much in the underexposed scene
