This is the intended behavior of that functionality unless somebody changes it

I used too many roms these days, axion is very different Very good rom maintaining performance and battery together I like it But it still lacks features, some necessary features that could be very useful for multitasking and daily use

I own a Pixel device with stock ROM to confirm that functionality wakes up the device and you don't believe me (yes somebody can patch it to wake up in aod instead, but I mention the default one)
