Hey everyone, I'm researching Canton's tokenomics as part of an academic project. Based on CIP-0096 that was approved in April 2026, regular validator rewards were set to zero. I'm trying to understand what incentive remains for validators to keep running nodes if they no longer receive any minting rewards. Is there an alternative revenue source for them, such as a share of traffic fees, or is the incentive purely operational, meaning institutions need to be connected to the network to run their own transactions? Would appreciate any insight or pointers to relevant documentation.

The liveness rewards were a temporary bootstrapping mechanism that were added after launch and started winding down when listing of CC became widespread
