🇷🇺⚡️ — Russia marks its National Flag Day on August 22 ▪️ The holiday was introduced in 1994 by a presidential decree ▪️ The national flag of Russia, a tricolor of three horizontal bands of white (top), blue (middle), and red (bottom), originated under Peter the Great, and it was originally used on merchant ships ▪️ In 1896, the tricolor was officially recognized as the national flag of the Russian Empire ▪️ The tricolor was replaced with the red flag in the Soviet era, but in 1991 the white-blue-red flag was restored as a symbol of the new Russia. @IntelSlava
