When women's autonomy and agency is removed from any sexual decisions, effort can be expended into other areas because you no longer have to be concerned about a solved problem. When the problems of plumbing, roads, food, water, and shelter are solved, then man works to develop other technologies or luxuries. The problems of sex were solved long ago when enforcement of faithfulness and loyalty meant death, poverty, or starvation for breaking the contract. This restriction didn't require men to be inventors or innovators, it just required them to be community contributors.
