After being announced at I/O 2026 in May, Google Pics is now generally available. The platform, which was developed after Google Vids, is natively integrated into the Google Workspace ecosystem. Users can click on an image in Google Docs or Google Slides to open the Pics editor in an overlay window and start editing. An update, which will be rolled out in the coming weeks, will allow editing of images stored in Google Drive. The tool can also be accessed at pics.new. In addition to creating new images (with several options offered), the system provides the ability to import files from your computer, Google Drive, or Google Photos for further processing.
Thanks to Nano Banana technology, Google Pics provides "precise object-based image editing." The segmentation feature allows you to isolate a specific part of an image while keeping other elements unchanged. After selecting an object, the user can provide text instructions, which allows for "multiple edits at once."
