Poseidon — The Hundred-Tonne Torpedo With a Reactor in It
A heavyweight torpedo is 533 millimetres across, seven metres long, and weighs about two tonnes. The Poseidon is roughly 2 metres across, up to 20 metres long, and weighs up to 100 tonnes — a nuclear-powered autonomous vehicle that happens to be launched from a tube. Russia announced a powered test on 28 October 2025, and on 1 November launched the Khabarovsk, a submarine built from the keel up to carry six of them.
