Here's a breakdown of the process: The Deal is Struck: The process begins with a signed sales contract between the importer (buyer) and the exporter (seller). Buyer Initiates: The importer requests an LC from their bank, known as the Issuing Bank. Bank Obligations: The Issuing Bank reviews the request and takes on the obligation to pay the exporter, provided all conditions are met. LC is Issued: The LC is then issued to the exporter's bank (the Advising or Confirming Bank).
