The bar chart compares the proportion of different age groups who shop online in Australia between 2007 and 2009. Overall, the proportion of Australians who shopped online increased in every age group over the period. People aged 26-35 accounted for the highest proportion in both years, while aged 65 and over, recorded the lowest figure.
Regarding the younger age groups, starting at 20%, the proportion of online shopping rate increased slightly to 22% among the 15-25age group. The figure for the 26-35 is considerably higher, rising from 38% in 2007 to a peak of 43 % in 2008.
After the 26-35 age groups, the percentages declined with age, although all groups experienced small increases over the period. The figure for aged 36-45 rose from 30% to 34%, while proportion for 46-55, 56-65 and 65 over age groups increased from 23% to 28%, 15% and 20% and 10% to 12% respectively. Meanwhile, the overall average proportion climbed from 24% to 29% till the period.
