Overall, the 26–35 age group had the highest percentage of online shoppers in both years, while the 65+ age group had the lowest. In addition, the figures for all age groups increased from 2007 to 2009.
In 2007, 38% of people aged 26–35 shopped online, making this the highest figure. This percentage increased to 43% in 2009. Similarly, the figure for the 36–45 age group rose from 30% to 34%, while the percentage for those aged 46–55 increased from 23% to 28%. Moreover, the average figure went up from 24% to 29%.
The percentage of people aged 15–25 increased slightly from 20% to 22%. Likewise, the figure for the 56–65 age group rose from 15% to 20%. The lowest percentages were recorded for the 65+ age group, which increased modestly from 10% in 2007 to 12% in 2009.
