This money could instead be spent on hospitals, schools and housing. Also, some stadiums become empty after the event and are expensive to maintain. On the other hand, international sporting events can bring economic benefits. They attract tourists who spend money on hotels, restaurants and entertainment. They can also create jobs and improve infrastructure, such as roads, airports and public transport. Moreover, hosting a global competition can increase national pride and give the country international exposure. In conclusion, although international sporting events cost a lot of money, they can provide economic and social benefits if the money is managed responsibly.
