The Anglican Church was on the side of the king during the civil war in England. It was only after their defeat by the Cromwell who was Puritan, that the change came. Of course, it was Puritans who made the vast majority of settlers in the new world aka America. The Anglican Church did adopt a stance where they thought Jews should be converted to Christianity and sent to Palestine. That didn’t happen ofc.
