 Crucial no more! Micron to exit consumer business to focus on supplying AI data center. Summary Micron are quitting the consumer market to focus on AI solutions. No more Crucial!   Quotes Quote Micron announced today that it will exit its Crucial consumer business, bringing an end to retail sales of Crucial-branded SSDs and memory modules at major stores and online retailers. The company says it will continue shipping Crucial products through fiscal Q2 2026 (ending February 2026), after which the brand will no longer operate in the consumer channel. Warranty coverage and support will remain in place.   My thoughts Consumers will lose one of the major sources of SSDs and RAM, thanks to AI growth. Presumably Micron don't feel the effort required to serve consumer uss cases are worth it for them if they can concentrate only on enterprise/data center market, driven by AI growth. Micron own their own fabs so this will reduce the supply options to consumer once they ship through existing planned stock early next year.
