Rainbow Six Siege Servers Hacked: ~2B R6 Credits (≈$13.33M value) for all players, mass bans, data breaches, and Ubisoft shuts servers in a panic.
Summary
On Saturday, December 27, 2025, Rainbow Six Siege players suffered a major cyber attack where many accounts were suddenly credited with over 2 billion R6 Credits and Renown and, in many cases, items that appear to include developer-only cosmetics. At the same time, players were randomly banned for offenses they did not commit with messages accusing them of harassment, cheating, ToS breach, DDoSing, etc. all simultaneously (however restarting the client would result in an unban within minutes of the restart). Players were also unknowingly having their data stolen and exposed to malicious actors during this time. The in-game notification ban ticker (which was removed in a previous update) was re-added and displayed inappropriate messages or song lyrics. Ubisoft acknowledged an incident affecting Siege, then intentionally shut down Siege and the Marketplace while they work on remediation, and stated a rollback of transactions since 11:00 AM UTC is underway while also saying players won’t be banned for spending credits received.

Additional incident details

The in-game ban ticker/notification feed displayed song-lyric style messages and other inappropriate messages Ubisoft stated the ban ticker messages were not triggered by them.
Many players saw their accounts flip into wrongful “banned” states for multiple stated reasons, then were unbanned minutes later and could continue playing. Players were also emailed official ban notifications by Ubisoft confirming they were banned & unbanned server-side in a matter of minutes.
Players were able to continue playing the compromised/hacked live environment on December 27 until Ubisoft pulled the plug and shut down Siege/Marketplace. Ubisoft account management remains active. Other Ubisoft games appear unaffected as of now.
