 Digg relaunch runs into major problems. Summary Digg ran tried to relaunch, but bots have overwhelmed their network and they've decided to close up shop for a bit and reset with a different strategy. Their founder is returning full time and they are laying off a number of their staff. The bots that overwhelmed their network undermined trust in votes, comments, and engagement.   Quotes Quote The internet is now populated, in meaningful part, by sophisticated AI agents and automated accounts. We knew bots were part of the landscape, but we didn't appreciate the scale, sophistication, or speed at which they'd find us. We banned tens of thousands of accounts. We deployed internal tooling and industry-standard external vendors. None of it was enough. When you can't trust that the votes, the comments, and the engagement you're seeing are real, you've lost the foundation a community platform is built on.   My thoughts It's tough to build a forum these days especially when the likes of Reddit are so entrenched.
