On August 16, cardiologist Эрик Тополь wrote about companies offering embryo selection services for up to $50,000, claiming to accurately predict IQ, height, and other traits. This score can capture statistical differences in a large group of people, but its application in embryo selection is limited, as it is applied to a few genetically similar embryos. A 2019 study found that the average gain from selecting an embryo with the highest score was around 2.5 cm in height or 2.5 IQ points. The study used a combination of calculated models, simulations, and data from large families with grown children.
