Try giving each vm 1G extra memory. I have tried vQFX, the newer switch and router images and even the evo Images and found that the vMX inages runs with the least resource demand and the cli is pretty fast too. I would prefer a switch image but this is taking so much time to get right. With Cisco images none of this happens because they just work.
