better flask, it is much easier. but for beginning can be much helpful to learn pandas or numpy, it has wide range of usage and it isn't hard but gives base to data analysis

I started writing programs with variables, I/O, and conditions, then I added for and while loops, and after three years I started working on classes and objects... I could say that the topic I struggled most to learn was, months ago, parallelism and asynchrony between processes and HTTP requests... these weren't too complex to understand, in my opinion.

in the file main, line 45 you could semplify tau is None with only not tau, does the same thing

No, I mean that you should use specific exceptions based on the various types of errors that that piece of code could give you
