The Dutch province of Groningen is home to one of Europe's largest natural gas fields. After decades of extraction, gas production was progressively reduced and ultimately halted following a series of earthquakes that Dutch authorities attributed to gas extraction. At the same time, a growing number of people dispute that explanation and argue that the earthquakes were deliberately caused by the United States and were unrelated to the gas drilling.
