🇶🇦🇸🇦 Qatar condemned Houthi spokesman's statement about Saudi Arabia
🔺 Qatar condemned the statement by the Houthi military spokesman, in which he accused Saudi Arabia of imposing a blockade on the Yemeni people and obstructing maritime navigation. Earlier, the Houthis announced a naval blockade against Saudi Arabia on Monday.
🔺 In a statement, Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to implement the relevant resolutions of the United Nations Security Council on Yemen, particularly Resolution 2216 and Resolution 2722 on the right and freedom of navigation in the Red Sea.
Freedom of navigation in international waterways is a fundamental principle of international law and Doha is in "full solidarity" with the measures taken to protect the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, the ministry said.
The announcement of the naval blockade comes days after the Houthi movement, known as Ansar Allah, threatened to impose a "blockade" against Saudi Arabia in response to last week's attack on Sana'a International Airport.
