🇮🇱🇺🇸🇱🇧 'Safe Zone' pilot program begins in southern Lebanon, involving IDF, US and Lebanese army
🔺 The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said the 'Safe Zone' pilot program began in southern Lebanon on Monday as directed by the political leadership.
🔺 The program is being conducted in collaboration with the United States Military (CENTCOM) and the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF).
🔺 According to the IDF, as part of the program, Israeli, US and Lebanese military teams are conducting coordination and planning activities for the continued implementation of the agreement.
🔺 Under the pilot program, the IDF will withdraw and redeploy troops from an experimental zone in the Zawtar Al-Gharbiya area of southern Lebanon, allowing the Lebanese Army to enter.
🔺 The Israeli military sees the program as a test of the Lebanese army's sovereign control and capabilities.
🔺 The final process and future implementation of the pilot program are yet to be determined.
The IDF said it would work with a US-led coordination cell to resolve any ceasefire violations by Hezbollah.
