Wise words from American actor Clint Eastwood about aging:
“Aging sucks, doesn't it?
You're still here. You still see the world through your own eyes, but your bones no longer move with the same ease. Your eyes grow tired more quickly in the light, and your lungs increasingly long for a moment's rest, because every breath can be harder than it once was.
But the hardest part is something else entirely.
When you reach old age and there's no one beside you who will patiently listen to your stories about the past—those that are true, and those gently embellished by memory. You know that, to many people, they no longer matter. And yet you still want to tell them. Like a grandparent passing on what they believe is worth remembering.
Old age is not just wrinkles.
It is memory longing to be heard.
Sometimes an older person doesn't need advice. All they need is someone to sit beside them and say:
‘Tell me another story.’
