After 20 Years, Wave Energy Finally Works
For decades, wave energy has looked promising on paper but failed in reality.
Most systems were engineered to resist the ocean. And they broke under pressure.
A UK company, Sea Wave Energy Ltd, approached the problem differently. Instead of fighting waves, they designed a system that moves with them.
The result is the Waveline Magnet. A modular system that converts wave motion into electricity while adapting to harsh ocean conditions.
One full scale unit can generate up to 100 megawatts, enough to power a small city. It is also built from recyclable materials and uses seawater instead of oil, removing a major environmental risk.
What makes this even more interesting is its ability to desalinate water alongside energy production.
This is not just an energy innovation. It is a systems level rethink of how we work with nature instead of against it.
