I remembered I created a decommissioning wallet but unsure how it fits into all of this. ALSO when trying to recover the decommission wallet I get random errors like one word in the mnemonic is unknown but I know for sure I have the correct mnemonic

The same thing happened to me, where one word was "unknown" but I know it's actually correct. I ended up abandoning the wallet and transferring to a new one because I still had access to the wallet (luckily). @dn2000 not sure if the team knows about the issue but just thought I'd bring it to your attention

That's exactly what is happening, I write all my mnemonic multiple time on 3 different pieces of papers to ensure I do not make a mistake, and they all line up. My wallet is encrypted and I lost the password. Mintlayer team please help.

Mnemonic parsing is a basic functionality and it's unlikely to be bugged. Just in case, I tried restoring my testnet wallet from the seed and it worked fine. I.e. it if says "unknown word", then it's likely there is something wrong with the word. Check that all characters are lowercase and that they are in fact English letters and not their lookalikes. To be sure, google the BIP-39 wordlist and look up the word in the list (do a case-sensitive search in a browser or an editor instead of relying on your eyes).
