Yes. Nash team sounded optimistic until a few days ago, they were expecting to be approved and things to start moving. When they got rejected, David left since his mandate is directly tied to MiCA approval.
I think David was a perfect candidate and if he is still available when Nash gets MiCA, I would still offer him the job.
