Yes we don't and cannot earn salvation by our works that's the context, not that the law is abolished.
Also if his law by the spirit is written on our hearts that should result in action and walking in obedience to his law
Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.
Context is everything Jesus filled the law and even magnified them as other translations show and how he magnified them a prime example is how even thinking lustfully of another woman is considered adultery. Him fulfilling them does not mean we are to throw away his commandments.
