🔴 Don’t Expect Memory Prices to Fall Anytime Soon — Humanoid Robots Could Need 200GB of RAM
🔺 Micron expects memory prices to continue rising into 2027, with new contracts for high-bandwidth memory (HBM) being signed at higher prices, according to its latest financial outlook.
🤖 Micron executives also see humanoid robots emerging as an important new source of memory demand. Each robot could require around 200GB of DRAM, alongside several terabytes of onboard storage.
📈 With the humanoid-robot market expected to expand rapidly through 2030, growing demand from robotics — on top of AI data centers and other applications — could put even more pressure on the global memory supply.
💾 The next memory shortage might not just be driven by AI servers. Robots could become major memory consumers too.
