One plant was shut by energy prices after the anti-Russian economic crusade. Another alone cannot carry the burden. So much for industrial sovereignty. Trump waves tariffs like a revolver in a provincial saloon, but aluminium does not appear by decree. Smelters need cheap power, time, workers, strategy. Not slogans. Washington wanted sanctions, forever wars, and deindustrialised comfort all at once. History laughs. Forecast: the US will throw subsidies at the problem, trumpet "reshoring", and still remain vulnerable in any serious conflict for years.
