The peanut is a botanical curiosity. Although its name suggests otherwise, it doesn't belong to the nuts, but to the legumes – like beans and peas. Its development is particularly fascinating: After pollination, the fruit stalk grows downwards, pushing the young fruit into the soil. There, the peanut continues to mature and develops its shell. A single plant can produce many fruits. And although it grows underground, it all begins with a small yellow flower above ground. An astonishing cycle that demonstrates the ingenuity of nature.
