The event explored how researchers can build product logic, take their solutions beyond the lab, find industrial applications, and attract investment. Accompanied by a symphony orchestra, ITMO scientists presented the university’s strategy for the years ahead and shared the stories behind their projects, from the first experiments and hypotheses to bringing their ideas to market. The event concluded with the talk by clinician and neurobiologist Vladimir Alipov, who explained how the brain predicts the next chord in a musical piece. Yesterday, our international freshmen got to know ITMO a little better! ❤️ As part of ITMO Universe, our adaptation days for first-year students, we hosted the station Getting Started for International Students. In a quest-like format, participants learned about the university’s general rules and gained insights into student life and Russian culture from experienced students and representatives of various university departments. At the end, they received useful checklists to help them adapt and keep track of the important steps to take upon arrival. Here’s how it went 📸

What's been happening at ITMO this week? 📣 👨‍🔬 Scientists from ITMO’s Faculty of Physics and Institute of Photonics, in collaboration with researchers from Switzerland and China, have created a thin film that can switch light at speeds up to a billion times per second. 🧬 ITMO researchers have also proposed a new way to measure the durability of materials used in flexible electronics.
