Sign Up Now for Unlimited Over the last seven weeks, Castalia House has translated approximately 10 million words from over 100 foreign language works into English. Most of these works have never before been translated into English, including the complete ouvres of major authors like Benito Perez Galdos, Eiji Yoshikawa, Zénaïde Fleuriot, Naoki Sanjugo, and Nomoro Kido. They also include […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/02/sign-up-now-for-unlimited/

Better than a PhD If you spend the next four minutes watching the video at the link, you will know more about the actual state of evolutionary science than pretty much every single evolutionary biologist and population geneticist on the planet, regardless of how many years they have spent obtaining their credentials and working in the field. You will […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/03/better-than-a-phd/

The Scholars Revolt All across France, schools are burning due to scholarly unrest over the quality of their educations. Or something. High schools across France have closed, thousands of teenagers have been arrested, and hundreds of people have suffered injuries as unrest over conditions in the lycée system has spread and erupted into violence in recent days. Roughly […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/03/the-scholars-revolt/

PZ on PZ Hey, the old wannabe Fifth Horseman of the New Atheism is back! They’re mostly dead now and he’s been irrelevant for at least a decade, but apparently if there is one thing that is going to wake him up and get that weary old ticker thumping again, it’s the unholy marriage of William Dembski and […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/03/pz-on-pz/

Back to the 70s It’s not often that I find myself wishing I was back in Minnesota. But seeing College GameDay there, watching the Michigan game and seeing the Golden Gophers reclaim the Little Brown Jug at home for the first time since 1977 definitely felt like a heartwarming blast from the past. I didn’t attend that game, but […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/04/back-to-the-70s/

They Didn’t Read the Book A regular here jumped on the grenade for everyone who, like myself, lacked the fortitude to sit through three-and-a-half hours of two people discussing a book that neither of them had bothered to read, and thereby gleaned the following information from the recent video by Dr. Erika and Dr. Hanson. Interesting. I was pretty confident […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/04/they-didnt-read-the-book/

Erika Needs Help Fair enough. She’s going to need all the help that she can get. But I really fail to see what difference it’s going to make, no matter how many butterfly collectors she assembles. This is fascinating. The more credentials, the merrier, I always say. So. Many. Skulls! Are you not entertained! I am, of course, […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/04/erika-needs-help/

Skol, but… The Purple are 4-0 and on top of the NFC North. Beaten the Packers. Beaten the Bears. The defense is more than on point. And I haven’t had this little confidence in the offense since Bob Lee was starting the NFC championship game. Kyler Murray is not a rookie and yet he can’t complete a […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/05/skol-but/

Watering the Desert The EU is getting desperate. They burned down their economies and enraged their native populations for less than nothing: “It feels like we’re watering the desert,” one of the European diplomats told Le Monde. The article notes that Ukraine’s request for additional funding comes at a “delicate political moment” when the EU is focused on […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/05/watering-the-desert/

The Best They’ve Got I One name that was unfamiliar to me was brought up several times amidst the panoply of purported “criticisms” and “debunkings” of Probability Zero that are presently being flung around by hundreds of evolutionary enthusiasts, very few of whom have actually read the book. That name is Jason Rosenhouse, the author of Failures of Mathematical Anti-Evolutionism, […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/05/the-best-theyve-got-i/

An Epic Day Ladies and gentlemen, Castalia House is fairly bursting with pride to announce an original complete and unabridged English translation of Eiji Yoshikawa’s Sangokushi, the epic Japanese novel of the Romance of the Three Kingdoms, with the publication of Volume 10: Wuzhang Plains. A falling star appears over the plains of Wuzhang, and the man who […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/05/an-epic-day/

The Best They’ve Got II Yesterday, I posted the first part of my critical review of Jason Rosenhouse’s 2022 book Failures of Mathematical Anti-Evolutionism, published by Cambridge University Press, in which I demonstrated how he badly misrepresented significant elements of the 1966 Wistar Symposium and how he falsely claimed that the biologists there had adequately answered the challenges posed to […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/06/the-best-theyve-got-ii/

Let Them Take Out LA “With the war, it’s just artificial. It’s a little bit high. It’s a small price to pay … let them take out Los Angeles, let them take out San Diego. This is a very small price to pay.” – President Donald Trump What a madman. Although to be honest, I think most Americans are hoping […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/06/let-them-take-out-la/

“Voting starts today and Vivek must lose Ohio. He is an insane megalomaniac with presidential ambitions and is going to use a Governorship to launch a national career. Vivek is a rabidly anti-white and anti-American who is giddy at the thought of further replacing the country with Indians under his false "merit" bit. His personal "career" is filled with scams from insider trading lawsuits to pharma pump and dumps and taking DEI scholarships and grants. At no point has he added value to our society and has only taken to enrich himself and his family. Entirely parasitic. His political career will be no different, likely worse. He is a staunch globalist and open-border zealot insisting on bringing as many Indians to the country as possible by any means possible. He wants to "increase the population of Ohio by 4 million," in a state with under 12 million. A 30%+ increase flood? And then on to the rest of the country? Totally insane. That's how these types boost GDP, by throwing bodies at a market, never caring that GDP alone is never a metric of quality of life, especially for the people already here. His corruption and liberalism will go unchecked by a pathetic GOP looking to India as a place for more "trade deals" and "speaking fees" and treating Vivek as almost a demigod, the way the DNC treated Obama. Amy Acton is far less dangerous than a Vivek win, as the GOP legislature will at least attempt to keep a Democrat in check, while they will sign-off on everything Vivek, for that I will be voting for her. The odds are that Amy will be mostly a lame-duck stuck in gridlocks for four years. Easily survivable. Endless Indians and launching Vivek to the national stage? An incomprehensibly horrid scenario. The GOP is running liberal anchor-babies with foreign alliances at our expense. While opening doing deals with foreign nations that never benefit real Americans. I believe it is crucial he loses, Amy will be constrained to moderatism, while also dealing a much need

No Reconciliation I’ll give Day exactly one thing: There is, in fact, no reconciliation between the observant and the deluded. There is no way either us or him will change their mind. He’s just got it bass-ackwards which one is which. Actually, based on my most recent work, I genuinely believe they will all eventually come around […] https://voxday.net/2026/10/06/no-reconciliation/

Vox has the funniest side quests. You got to respect arguing with: "Big numbers are big, but when they are big enough, magic happens." Meanwhile, numbers aren't that big.
