When you mint x33 using your xSHADOW, the amount you get is dependent on the current ratio of underlying xSHADOW per x33. If you check out the x33 page, you can see what that is

it is because the paper value of your xshadow is more than the value of the resulting liquid x33 however you can un-mint at any time and get the underlying xshadow back so you don't actually lose any money
