🚨 STOLEN BITGET FUNDS BEGIN MOVING INTO ZCASH’S SHIELDED POOL On-chain investigator ZachXBT reports that approximately 2,700 ZEC — worth around $3.8 million — linked to the Bitget exploit has begun moving into Zcash’s Ironwood shielded pool. Around 18,900 ZEC ($28.3M) was reportedly stolen from Bitget as part of the September 24 breach. The wider security incident affected approximately $387.5 million across multiple assets and networks. Bitget has said the attack showed indicators consistent with DPRK-linked groups, although attribution remains under investigation. Moving ZEC from transparent addresses into the shielded pool breaks the publicly visible transaction trail by concealing transaction details on-chain. The development is notable because it demonstrates the real-world privacy properties of Zcash — while also highlighting the difficult compliance and tracing questions that strong financial privacy creates.
