i noticed when testing OV48C that DCG does not do any good if the exposure is too dark both NORMAL and DCG are noisy as hell only benefit from DCG for adding extra stop of dynamic range in a well lit scene (in scene where max ISO of the sensor actually produce any reasonable quality image)
therefore i am thinking if sensor has small pixels it wont be exposing bright in the first place so having DCG won't do much in the underexposed scene
ReplyThat's why so much hype about 17 Ultra in DCG crazed community, i bet even though selfie has DAG its still no where near the main sensor dynamic range because of pixel size difference
With a format difference that is so large, the result isn't meant to be equal

therefor
On OV50E, normal mode and ratio 16 DCG are worlds apart

TadiOn OV50E, normal mode and ratio 16 DCG are worlds aparti believe only provided camera can expose dark areas of the scene properly at max ISO/Gain setting of the sensor
DCG does not turn phone into night vision device if overall scene is too dark even for max analog gain won't do much

I ofc refer to scenes that still benefit from higher gain in normal mode, yes

I rooted my phone. I activated the sensor using modtile. However, the cameras in MotionCam no longer work. And the phone's default camera produces overexposed images.
