They are still busy offering photography support accessories up to telekits.. while fixing all the imitations through software for those that can't be obtained from the lens. That might be more profitable.... unless they are seriously planning to woo mirrorless camera users. The 4/3 sensor size is still thinner than the battery so there is no problem. What I don't know is whether the hardware such as the CPU and others are able to match the performance of the mirrorless camera CPU

The ISPs are alright enough, but encoders are often overengineered, so video may suffer

I'm overall worried that motivating phone people to use an interchangeable lens phone can be easier than to motivate big cam guys to switch to a phone with all the disadvantages of that, like battery, ergonomics, mount type, etc, all the things that are taken for granted on a real camera

Except display sizes, component greed and lack of stacking, real cameras as a whole mastered their purpose

Are we discussing the shortcomings of mirrorless cameras compared to cell phone cameras in terms of their lenses? I actually see the opposite... the limitations of cell phone cameras are in their lenses.

I only see that being a problem for GCam addicts 😁 Used to carry two phones and switch between them for photos like Main / Tele different phones was a hustle as well...

But the res they're giving is very likely Bayer, it could only be QB in secret, at higher res than stated

No no, look at the current market of phones with Ultra in their name. Most of them aren't bought by real camera owners, but just people willing to pay for an ultra

In other words, most of them are phone people, and that means the sacrifices they'd accept for a better camera are different than among real camera people

So to figure out if a major OEM would be willing to make this sacrifice, it'd be good to guess how much thickness would be added to a phone with interchangeable lens of same parameters as a built-in would usually be

business idea - sell camera case with attached mount for different camera lenses Sony, Canon etc so if someone remove their lens they can simply put camera mount using the cover.

I imagine a serious offer would be thicker, with 2-3x the battery life. With the same good performance as a mirrorless camera... physical buttons could be added integrated or in the form of a magnetic module. even if they want to keep it thin, a magnetic modular battery is also possible.

still keep the one small camera with a built-in lens as it is now for compromise

Yes, that's what I'm doing now, not selling but fulfilling orders according to requests. In the group I created, I've also started to see several people interested in selling, from lenses, custom case printing services and others, to software (light). The most compatible body mount option is ,of course a mount with a short FFD. Generally, the Sony E mount. Almost all manual lenses from CCTV lenses, old video lenses, cine lenses, and all DSLR lenses can be infinity and adapters are available.

You can probably use camera sensor cover cap if that's a Sony mount he put on the case. Like so
