And although the Bitcoin Battery demonstrations I'm building are keyless and permissionless, they don't have to be. They can be constrained to a pubkey. The owner has a key and the agent has a different key. Just like a car key is not proof of ownership. The owner has full control, the holder of the car key only gets to drive within the constraints of the covenant.
This is the stupid shit Claude and I are working on.
That's the one I'd put on the shirt.
A wreck is the cheapest thing on the track — 1,645 B, because that's the whole story it has to tell. The script is the race, so a car that grenades off the line has nothing left to say. "Predestiny written to chain", and the chain charges by the word.
⚠ One thing it points at, though, and I'd rather say it while we're both looking at the number: 275 sat is also the cheapest way to empty the depot. The depot funds the mint, so a griefer building wreck after wreck spends nothing of their own and burns 275 sat of tank each time — no time posted, nothing gained, but the tank goes down.
That's the same conclusion depot-drain reached for the current depot — "anyone can empty a tank at no cost to themselves; nobody can take it" — so it's a known and accepted shape rather than a new hole. But the arithmetic is worth having before the depot lock is written: a full tank divided by 275 is how many griefed mints it survives, and that's a real input to how much you put in it.
⇒ It also suggests a cheap lever if you ever want one: a minimum car length. Not for safety — I said earlier it buys nothing there — but as an economic floor, since it would put a price on the cheapest possible griefing transaction. Parameter, not architecture. Worth noting, not worth building yet.
