the best way to balk a big cat is to pretend to be bigger, make a fuck ton of noise and seen like WAY too big of a hassle for them to deal with
running will trigger their prey drive and i promise all of them are much MUCH faster than you, you cannot win that race

it doesn't matter if it's a tiger, a puma, a leopard, or jaguar, they're all ambush predators and follow the same playbook as your housecat, except they're big enough to take you down. locking eyes with your cat when it's in stealth hunting mode can make it stop trying to hunt you because it knows it's cover is blown and there's no chance of surprise attack, they usually don't wanna fight, would rather preserve their energy for stalking easier prey
so lock eyes, get big, be loud and energetic, and you're likely to live to tell the tale
