Thank you for the update, but this statement raises more questions than it answers.
After several years, no commercially viable product was delivered, yet there is no transparent breakdown of how the funds raised were spent. Saying that the team worked "largely on a voluntary basis" does not replace financial accountability.
If the original vision can no longer be achieved, investors and community members deserve a detailed report covering:
How much funding was raised.
How those funds were allocated.
What assets remain.
Why no sustainable product was delivered despite several years of development.
Whether any remaining assets can be returned to token holders or contributors before being donated elsewhere.
Transparency and accountability are just as important as ambition. The community supported this project in good faith and deserves clear answers, not only a farewell letter.

Dear DeepSquare Community,
We would like to share an important update regarding the DeepSquare Association.
First and foremost, thank you. Your support, trust, and contributions made it possible to build something genuinely ambitious. Together, we explored a new model for distributed HPC infrastructure, built a strong ecosystem, and laid meaningful technical and conceptual foundations.
After careful consideration of our current position and the broader market environment, the members have taken the difficult decision to wind down the Association and place it into formal liquidation.
Following approval at the Extraordinary General Assembly, the required documents have been submitted to the Neuchâtel Commercial Register, and Myriam Semman has been appointed as liquidator.
Over the past years, we made sustained efforts to make DeepSquare successful. Following the crypto bear market, we significantly reduced costs and continued operating largely on a voluntary basis while exploring multiple paths to revive the project, including institutional fundraising, cloud-based approaches, and strategic partnerships.
With the support of an investment bank, we prepared a professional information memorandum and held extensive discussions with venture and strategic investors. Despite these efforts, the AI landscape evolved at an unprecedented pace, largely outside the crypto ecosystem. The market rapidly consolidated around the world's largest technology companies, while investor interest shifted decisively toward US-based and traditional data centre opportunities.
Ultimately, we concluded that there was no longer a viable path to deliver on DeepSquare's original vision in a responsible way.
On the operational side, our edge sites in Basel and Sion have now been shut down. Administrative costs were covered over the past period through the sale of second-hand hardware, but this source has now been largely exhausted as the remaining equipment has little residual value.

We understand that this news may be disappointing and frustrating for many of you. We share those feelings.
We kindly ask everyone to keep discussions respectful and constructive. The people involved dedicated years of work, often on a voluntary basis, to give this project every possible chance of succeeding. While it's perfectly fair to ask questions or express disappointment, please do so with courtesy and respect toward everyone involved.
Thank you for your understanding.
97 · H Respect should, of course, be mutual. You expect understanding from us, but you also need to acknowledge the financial losses suffered by the people who trusted this project and invested in it. I invested $10,000 in this project, and today, that investment has become almost entirely worthless. You speak of the effort you have put in, and I respect that. However, investors also placed their trust in you and committed their hard-earned savings. Therefore, simply asking for "understanding" is not enough. You need to transparently explain what happened, why things reached this point, and whether you have any plans to compensate investors for their losses. If you want respect, you must first be accountable and transparent with your investors.M With all due respect, I believe this message still avoids the central issue. Nobody is questioning whether the team invested time and effort into the project. However, respect is a two-way street. If the Board expects respect from the community, it should also show respect to the people who trusted the project with their money. So far, I have not seen the community being disrespectful. Investors are simply asking legitimate questions that have still not been answered. After several years, where is the commercially viable product? Where is the sustainable business that justified raising funds from the community? We repeatedly heard about development, partnerships, and future plans, but no tangible, revenue-generating product was ever delivered. Saying that the team worked hard or largely on a voluntary basis does not answer these questions. Time and effort alone are not the measure of success or accountability. The community invested real money based on the expectation that those funds would be used to build a functioning business. If the Board truly wants to show respect to the community, the priority should not be asking for respectful discussions. It should be providing complete transparency: a detailed financial report explaining how much funding was raised, how every major expense was allocated, what assets remain, and why, after years of development, no commercially viable product was brought to market. The greatest disappointment is not that the project failed. Many startups fail. The real disappointment is that investors are still left without clear answers or meaningful accountability. Transparency earns respect. Accountability builds trust. That is what the community has been asking for from the beginning.M There is one point that is particularly difficult to understand. The statement says that any remaining funds, after liabilities have been settled, are intended to be donated to another project that aligns with the Association's values. With all due respect, why should any remaining assets be donated elsewhere before considering the people who funded this project? The community provided the capital that made DeepSquare possible. If any value remains after all legal obligations have been met, shouldn't every possible option to compensate token holders or contributors be explored first? If the Board is asking the community to show respect, I believe the same respect should be shown to the community. Prioritizing donations to another project while investors absorb the entire loss is difficult to reconcile with that principle. This is not about blaming anyone for the project's failure. It is about fairness, accountability, and respecting those whose trust and financial support made the project possible in the first place.
