They always have excuses to support their point. Religion is all about man's rules, power, control and money. The only thing that truly matters is a personal relationship with Jesus. His point is invalid bc the moment Jesus was on the cross, the old covenant was fulfilled.

Romans 10: 5-13 would be worth studying on this question. Baptism for remission of sins was also Old Covenant (Mark 1:4, Luke 3:3), but it was a precursor to the blood of Jesus (Matthew 26:28).

And yet in Acts 10, Cornelius and his household received the Holy Spirit first. The surrender to Jesus, allowing him to cleanse you of your sins, is baptism whether there is a ritual application of water involved or not. Acts 22:16 does not say that Paul was told baptism with water was what would wash away his sins. For that, he was told to call on the name of the Lord, which is a spiritual baptism. And if you read 1 Peter 3:21 together with the verse before it, he is comparing it to Noah and his family being saved through, not by, the flood. Peter, like Paul, also says that we were given a good conscience toward God by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.

I touched on this in my post above, but here it is without the other stuff around it: The ritual application of water is what we usually mean when we use the word, but the real baptism is a matter of the heart and mind. Putting your faith in Christ and repenting of your sin with the sinner's prayer is one way to let Jesus cleanse you of your sins.

Yeah I agree. The Baptismal Regeneration believes in that the Believer will have “Desire to be Baptized” and seemingly Father will credit to them at death…

Baptism is not a work you do on your own. It's also not a work the Church does on you. The rite of water baptism does have value for us because we live in a material world. God gives us outward signs such as water baptism and anointing with oil as a way to lay hold of the spiritual reality that is invisible to us most of the time. Thus, water baptism is worth receiving if possible for the sake of those parts of us that do not perceive the spiritual realm (body and soul). It is also a public declaration of faith, which is the reason that it is a requirement for official membership in many congregations. But there is no special power in the water to remit sins. That baptism is the work of Jesus.

I didn't see the Reddit screenshot earlier. The comment about Cornelius and household is consistent with Catholic teaching and tradition, but not necessarily the way God saw it. And he underestimates the value of symbols, particularly to the Jewish believers. Baptism was a Jewish practice first.

I heard that baptism in water is an outward sign of an inward change. So, say someone just decides to follow Jesus and is on their way in a vehicle to get baptized in a river. Unfortunately, there is a head on collision and this person is killed instantly. Will they still go to heaven? Yes of course!

Of course if they prayed to the Lord and recognized as well as BELIEVE He is their savior then yes they will go to Heaven.

Yep that is what counts the most. To me when I got baptized it was a symbol for me to know and feel better about myself that I given my life fully to the Lord! Besides John was baptizing in the river before Yeshua came to get baptized with the Holy Spirit. I feel after that the Lord freed us in meaning of you follow Me no need to do the rituals (I.e Baptized).
