While some scholars and insiders will be interested in ISKCON’s guru reform movement in the 1980s and Kirtanananda’s response to it, this and other peripheral discussions often distract from the book’s central storyline. Given that the text is more than 600 pages in length, some readers will find this a source of some frustration.
